About the Program
This afternoon's performance offers a rare, salon-style experience where music and conversation intertwine. Pianist Holly Roadfeldt guides the audience through a wide range of piano works-each introduced with stories, history, and insights that illuminate the listening experience.
The program moves from the mesmerizing repetitions of Philip Glass and the driving industrial rhythms of Frederic Rzewski's The Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues, to the lyrical beauty of nocturnes by Samuel Barber and Mary Howe. It also features unexpected turns: Billy Joel's playful Root Beer Rag, Mary Kouyoumdjian's poignant Aghavni, and tributes to cultural icons like Eddie Van Halen and Gary Cygax from her recent album Anthony Joseph Lanman's Hommages.
More than a recital, this event invites listeners into a conversation in music-intimate, thoughtful, and engaging.
